The Northlake opened in 1954 at a site just a few blocks west of the present location. With the construction of the Interstate 5 freeway bridge at work, the Northlake would have to move. The I-5 bridge would cut right thru the Northlake's property, so a new place had to be found. The present site of the Northlake Tavern & Pizza House once served as the foundation of the Northlake Mill "Interior Finish" built in 1934. In 1958 the former building was torn down and the new Northlake was built. Since then another floor was added and the interior was remodeled. The Northlake Style Pizza He remembered eating a really great pizza back in New York City. He gave a call to an old friend back in New York whose family ran an Italian Restaurant and got a special pizza recipe. After some experimentation with various kinds of toppings, cheese and crust, the Northlake Style Pizza was born. He won the bet. We have carried on the tradition of making a special kind of pizza. At the Northlake we work hard to make your pizza a real taste treat. We use only the finest ingredients available including Real Canadian Bacon, Hawaiian Pineapple and all Real Cheeses. Our pizzas are cooked slowly in a large oven so all the flavor is retained. The pizzas are HUGE with the toppings flowing over the edge.....so be hungry and prepared to take some home. A small pizza hits the scales at over 2 1/2 pounds, with the medium nearly 4 1/2 pounds and a large pizza weighs in at over 6 pounds. The Northlake Style Pizzas are the largest and tastiest pizzas around. Pizza often compared to but never equaled!
